‘Beautiful Mind’ mathematician John Nash killed in crash

US mathematician John Nash, who inspired the Oscar-winning film A Beautiful Mind, has died in a car crash with his wife, police have said.

Nash, 86, and his 82-year-old wife Alicia were killed when their taxi crashed in New Jersey, they said.

The mathematician is renowned for his work in game theory, winning the Nobel Prize for Economics in 1994.

His breakthroughs in maths – and his struggles with schizophrenia – were the focus of the 2001 film.

Alicia Nash helped care for her husband, and the two later became prominent mental health advocates.

El matemático ganador del premio Nobel John Forbes Nash Jr., inmortalizado por el actor Russell Crowe en la película ‘Una Mente Maravillosa’, de Ron Howard, ha fallecido junto a su esposa en un accidente de tránsito al estrellarse el taxi en el que viajaban en Nueva Jersey contra un guardarraíl o defensa. Nash y su esposa Alicia, tenían 86 y 82 años respectivamente.

Nash ganó el Nobel de Economía en 1994 por su contribución a la teoría de juegos y combatió la esquizofrenia paranoica durante toda su vida, con la ayuda de su esposa. El matrimonio contribuyó a numerosas acciones benéficas para concientizar a la gente sobre la enfermedad.
