Beauty, Intelligence & Kindness
An exclusive interview with Monika Horvat, Miss Grand Canada 2016 and Angelo Di Benedetto, Director of Di Benedetto Models and Miss Grand Canada.
In the past, the beauty pageant competitions were mainly focused on the physical beauty of the contestants. Nowadays, intelligence and kindness are also considered to be a main factor. Monika Horvat, Miss Grand Canada 2016 has the full package. She is beautiful, kind and graduated from the University of Lethbridge in December 2015 with great distinction.
Monika will be competing for a place in the Coronation Night held later this year in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino on Tuesday, October 25th, 2016. 80 beauties from all over the globe will be competing for the title of Miss Grand International 2016.
A veteran in the pageant scene, Horvat said that she is nervous about the competition but excited. “It’s been a lot of discipline looking at food that I know I can have but it’s worth the sacrifice to be able to be in the top shape I can to represent Canada proudly”.
Angelo Di Benedetto, Monika’s pageant coach, said that he “expects nothing less than a great effort… She is really prepared”. He said that the reason she is Miss Grand Canada is not only because she is beautiful on the outside but also because she has a lot of content on the inside. “I think she is a great ambassador for peace. She has a very interesting background”, he added.
Monika Horvat and her family came to Canada when she was three years old. They immigrated during the civil war in the former Yugoslavia in 1993. This experience makes Monika look for possible work with immigrants and countries that are struggling with their own national identity.
