The halftime that overshadowed the Super Bowl game 2020

The first onstage collaboration between music superstars Jennifer Lopez and Shakira was a total success and pictures and videos went viral almost immediately after the show. That’s why we say that they overshadowed the Super Bowl. The halftime show was trending higher than the whole game itself.

Shakira and JLo did not disappoint with their performances. The show was a demonstration of professionalism, self-discipline and excellence. From start to finish the performance was impeccable. The songs, choreographies, versatility, and costumes made the halftime show a visual masterpiece that positioned this one, in our opinion, in the top 5 best Super Bowl Halftime shows of all time.

Thanks to a gesture she made with her tongue, Shakira’s viral meme of the day. As many of you know, Shakira is half Arab, and what she did is called “Zaghrouta” which is basically a sound to express jubilation, a tribute to her Lebanese ancestry.

The other explanation is that the tongue movement is usually done in the carnivals of Barranquilla, where the Colombian was born and that refers to the old troupe “Son de negro”. She definitively is proud of her origins and  paid tribute to Colombian music with sounds and movements of champeta, salsa and mapalé, rhythms sounded in the carnival of Barranquilla.

On the other hand, Jennifer Lopez honoured her heritage by wearing a feathered cape that showed the U.S. flag on one side and the Puerto Rican flag on the other. She opened the cape up to show the Puerto Rico side as her daughter Emme Muñiz and a children’s choir joined her for the opening notes of Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA.”

The special guests included J Balvin (Colombia) and Bad Bunny (Puerto Rico), two Latin American urban singers who had a breakthrough in the U.S. in 2019. Also, we have to highlight the flawless rendition of the national anthem delivered by Demi Lovato.

At the end, Shakira joined JLo for a duet of her 2010 World Cup song “Waka Waka.”

By the way… the Chiefs Beat the 49ers to Win the Super Bowl!
